Coin Specification

The Year of the Rooster begins on the 28th January, 2017. It is the Chinese year 4715. There are 12 animals in the lunar cycle and the rooster is the 10th. It is thought that people born during the different lunar years carry certain character attributes. Those born during the Year of the Rooster are said to be observant, confident, hardworking and honest.

This is the largest size of the coin we stock, however we may be able to source the 10 kilo version of the coin.

The Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse of the coin. It is the fourth coinage portrait used of Elizabeth II.

The reverse design features a rooster. He is guarding a hen and three chicks. It was designed by Tom Baughan. The Chinese character for 'rooster' can be seen on the left-hand side.
