Chards is an official partner of The Royal Mint. Our 2024 Royal Arms coin range, among other Royal Mint products, are sourced directly from their mint headquarters in Llantrisant, Wales.
The British Royal Coat of Arms is the official coat of arms for the British monarch, Charles III. The shield dates to the 1707 Act of Union and symbolises the alliance of the four Great British nations. This symbol has continued to signify royalty and strength for over 5 centuries in the British monarchy.
The shield displays the three lions for England, the rampant lion for Scotland, the three lions for Wales and the golden harp for Northern Ireland.
Capital Gains Tax (CGT) is a form of levies imposed on the profit garnered from the sale of assets, such as real estate, investments, and collectibles. In the United Kingdom, the present CGT allowance is £3,000 per annum per individual, which implies that one can earn up to £3,000 from the sale of assets prior to being subject to CGT.
For UK residents, bullion coins which are UK legal tender pound sterling coins are exempt from capital gains tax.
The obverse features the uncrowned portrait and first UK definitive coinage portrait of King Charles III designed by Martin Jennings. The inscription reads:
CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 100 POUNDS
The reverse shows a depiction of the Royal Arms by the veteran Royal Mint designer and heraldic artist, Timothy Noad. Additionally, the Lion of England and the Unicorn of Scotland can be seen at opposite sides of the arms. This design features the floral emblems of each of the four nations in the United Kingdom.
A Tudor rose for England, a leek for Wales, a thistle for Scotland, and a shamrock for Ireland appear at the bottom of the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom.
Each of these coins' reverse bears the following inscription.
