Synopsis

This collection started in 2018 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the beloved festive tale The Snowman. By popular demand, a second coin was created to fill our stockings in 2019. Here we explore the Royal Mint's only seasonal collection.

A Festive Pair

Although we are hoping for many more to come, at the moment, there are only two coins in this collection. To learn more about one of the designs, it's varieties and the story it represents, select a link below.

2018 40th Anniversary of The Snowman

When the story of The Snowman turned 40 in 2018, The Royal Mint struck this commemorative coin especially for the occasion. The reverse shows James and the snowman flying together over Brighton Pier.

2019 The Snowman

The second coin in this collection. The snowman is back! On this coin, the snowman is firmly on his feet, standing with James in a clearing. James smiles up lovingly at his snowman in a heart-wearming snowy scene.

Always More To Collect...

If you fancy a bit more of a challenge, try our London 2012 Sports Collection. Better known as 'The Olympics Collection' these are the 29 50ps minted to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics.

Or you could try one of our other small collections like The Gruffallo Collection or The Paddington Bear Collection. These collections are made up of fewer coins and so, although still a competitive market, these can be easier to complete for beginners. See our Collections Page for more options.

Perhaps you feel ready to start a more comprehensive collection? Why not explore our collection of the 50p coins currently in circulation?
