Edward VII, the eldest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert had disappointed his staid, respectable parents with his wild and scandalous ways. However, Tumtum, as the over-indulgent monarch was nicknamed in private, was exceedingly affable and well-liked by the public. The king was an excellent diplomat and played a fundamental role in the Entente Cordiale and Triple Entente agreements between Britain, Russia and France.
We usually have a selection of 1903 sovereigns in stock from different mints, and in different grades, at a variety of prices. Coins produced in London can be identified by the lack of mintmark in the exergue. The year, 1903 and the initials B.P. are situated under the exergue.
