This 1928 George V Perth mint sovereign is struck in 22 carat gold. The reverse bears the iconic engraving of St George and the Dragon by Benedetto Pistrucci.

In 1928, only the overseas branch mints issued sovereigns. The Perth mint produced 1,333,417 sovereigns, Melbourne minted 413,208 and Pretoria issued 18,2358,57.
The obverse features the large head portrait of George V's which was designed by Edgar Bertram Mackennal. The legend which surrounds the king's portrait reads GEORGIVS V D.G.BRITT:OMN:REX F.D.IND:IMP:
The reverse bears Pistrucci's engraving of St George and the Dragon. The P mint mark in the ground above the date shows that this sovereign was struck in Perth, Australia.
