What was the mintage of the 1958 Sovereign?

There were 8,700,000 sovereigns issued in 1958. This gives the coins a 'common' rating in The Gold Sovereign by Michael A. Marsh.

Obverse

Mary Gillick's 'crownless' portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the coin's obverse. This was used on sovereigns until 1974. The legend reads as:

ELIZABETH II DEI GRA:BRITT:OMN:REGINA F:D:+

Reverse

St George and the Dragon is shown on the reverse. The design was made by Italian sculptor, Benedetto Pistrucci. The date is shown at the bottom, below the horse.
