What is a struck-through mint error?

A struck through occurs when small amounts of dust or particles come between the metal disc and die of the coin during the initial striking process.

NGC stated that struck throughs will recieve a numerical grade still but will add an additonal mint error notation.

MS-63 Grade

According to the Sheldon grading scale, coins that are graded as a MS-63 are slightly weak or average strike with moderate abrasions and hairlines of varying sizes.

Obverse

The Elizabeth II pre-decimal portrait, designed by British sculptor Mary Gillick features on the obverse of the 1966 sovereign. Mary Gillick's crownless portrait is still being struck on Maundy Money coins today.

Reverse

The 1966 British gold sovereign reverse shows St George mounted on horseback, slaying the Dragon. This classic design was created by Royal Mint Engraver Bernedetto Pistrucci, and first appeared on sovereigns in 1817.
