Red Kangaroos

A male Red Kangaroo (Buck) can grow to 6 feet (1.8m) tall whilst the females (Doe) typically grow 4-5 feet (1.22m-1.52m) tall. They can reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour (64 kilometres per hour) and can cover 25 feet (7.6 meters) in a single leap!

Why is the Nugget popular?

The Gold Nugget coin series was first introduced in 1986 as a competitor to other Countries coins such as the Maple, Krugerrand and Britannia. The design was one of the first bullion coins to include a '2 tone' frosted effect. This meant that the foreground of the coin was almost matte, and the monarch/nugget had an almost mirror effect. Making way for a new technique within the Bullion game.

Obverse

The fourth portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley and is featured on this obverse. The coin bears an inscription that reads as:

 ELIZABETH II· AUSTRALIA · 1000 DOLLARS

Reverse

The reverse of the coin features a Red Kangaroo by Stuart Devlin.

Inscribed we see:
