Special Design Quintuple Sovereigns

Since the introduction of the modern sovereign, Benedetto Pistrucci's iconic design of St George has appeared on almost every reverse of sovereigns. Some of the special designs on double sovereigns are the 1989 500th Anniversary sovereigns, the 2002 shield reverse sovereign, and the 2022 royal coats of arms double sovereigns.

PF-70 Grade

The NGC grades coins using the Sheldon 1-70 grading scale, where 70 represents the highest grade, and 1 represents the lowest grade that a coin can receive. In this instance, the aforementioned coin has been graded as PF-70.

PF-70 Definition - A coin with no post-production imperfections at 5x magnification.

ULTRA CAMEO Grade

Ultra Cameo grading signifies a coin of exceptional quality, exhibiting a striking contrast between frosted design elements and mirror-like field. Coins awarded this grade display a sharp, crisp appearance with distinct features, making them highly desirable and visually captivating numismatic coins.

Obverse

The obverse features the fourth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was sculpted by British Sculptor, Ian Rank-Broadley. The obverse includes an inscription that reads as:

ELIZABETH · II · DEI · GRA  REGINA · FID · DEF

Reverse

The reverse features the special depiction of St George slaying the dragon, as designed by Paul Day. The coins include the initials "PJD", and the issue date "2012".
