Bullion 2014 Gold 1 oz Philharmonic Bullion Coins in uncircuated condition.

Philharmonic gold 1oz coins were first produced in 1989 by the Austrian mint. The obverse and reverse were designed by the previous chief engraver of the Austrian Mint, Thomas Pesendorfer.

The philharmonics are struck from 999.9 fine (24 carat) gold. The coins have a face value of 100 euros.

These coins are supplied loose. Add a 37mm coin capsule to keep your Philharmonic coins safe.

Austrian Bullion

When the Austrian Philharmonic coin was first produced it had a face value of two thousand schillings. In 2002, when Austria adopted the euro, the face value of this 1 oz gold coin was changed to 100 Euros.

This is the only European bullion coin with a face value in euros. It is only classed as legal tender in Austria.

Obverse

The obverse features a depiction of 'The Great Organ of the Golden Hall' in Vienna. The coin reads:

REPUBLIK OSTERREICH 1 UNZE GOLD 999.9 2014 100 EURO

'Republik Osterreich' translates to 'Republic of Austria'.

Reverse

The reverse of the Philharmonic coin features several instruments, including a cello, Vienna horn, harp and a bassoon, all of which are made in Austria.
