Your chance to own the new, 12-sided £1 coin in brilliant uncirculated condition!

This bi-metallic one pound coin replaced the old round version on the 15th October, 2017.

This BU coin comes in a colourful presentation folder, with information about the new coin.

New Technology

The Royal Mint has produced this coin using its aRMour® full-plate technology, which uses an electroplating system, combining several layers of different metals being electroplated onto a steel core. This makes it difficult to replicate.

Last Round Pound

On 28 March 2017, the circulated round pound was replaced by the 12 sided £1 coin. On the 15th October the round £1 coin ceased to be legal tender and was demonetised.

Obverse

The obverse shows the fifth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. The inscription reads:

2017 · ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D.

It has a laser-micro inscribed £ symbol on a fine lined background inside a small shield which changes to a 1 when tilted from side to side.

Reverse

The reverse, Nations of the Crown design features floral symbols from the four nations of the United Kingdom. The rose for England, the leek for Wales, the thistle for Scotland and a shamrock for Northern Ireland. The floral engraving covers both the inner 'silver' centre and the 'gold' band.
