The Philharmonics are issued loose, but 38mm capsules can be added for just 50p each.
2023 Philharmonic
Thomas Pesendorfer designed the Philharmonics, which were introduced in 2008 and are now the most minted silver bullion coin in Europe.
The coins are issued as loose coins and come in tubes of 20. If you order in multiples of 20, we will include the tube at no extra cost. Additionally, we offer various years for purchase in case you are looking for a specific year.
The denomination, or face value, is €1.50. The Austrian Mint explains:
"The face value of a bullion coin is appreciably lower than the value of its metal content. The somewhat unusual face value of 1.50 Euro on the new coin is explained by the fact that both the 1 Euro and 2 Euro are reserved for ordinary circulation in Europe."
Obverse
The theme for the obverse side of the coin is the great organ in the Golden Hall, which is located in Vienna's concert hall (Musikverein) and serves as the home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Additionally, this side of the coin features the face value in euros, as well as the weight, fineness, and year of issue.
Reverse
The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is represented in the harmonious design of musical instruments depicted on the reverse. The design includes an inscription of the words:
"WIENER PHILHARMONIKER SILBER".
