Seymour Unicorn

The Seymour Unicorn is one of the heraldic beasts associated with the Tudor dynasty, symbolising purity and innocence. Historically, the animal represented the Seymour family, closely linked to King Henry VIII through his third wife, Jane Seymour.

The Tudor Beasts

The Tudor Beasts (also known as the King's Beasts) are a series of heraldic statues, which flank the moat bridge at Hampton Court Palace. The ten statues represent King Henry VIII's Tudor ancestry and his marriage to his third wife, Jane Seymour.

What Is Capital Gains Tax?

Capital Gains Tax (CGT) is a form of levies imposed on the profit garnered from the sale of assets, such as real estate, investments, and collectibles. In the United Kingdom, the present CGT allowance is £3,000 per annum per individual, which implies that one can earn up to £3,000 from the sale of assets prior to being subject to CGT.

For UK residents, bullion coins which are UK legal tender pound sterling coins are exempt from capital gains tax (CGT).

Obverse

The obverse features the first definitive UK coinage 'uncrowned portrait' of King Charles III. It was designed by Martin Jennings.

CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 100 POUNDS · 2024

Reverse

The reverse showcases a contemporary interpretation of the Seymour Unicorn, designed by David Lawrence. This King's beast is depicted with a horn, the body of a horse, the tail of a lion, and the hooves and beard of a goat.

The design features a chain mail background texture, providing additional security.

An inscription on the reverse reads as:

SEYMOUR UNICORN · 1oz · FINE GOLD · 999.9 · 2024 ·
