This seven-coin Elizabeth Royal Portrait set is a great way to start your gold Sovereign collection. The collection was released in 2003 to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Queen's Coronation. It features the first four obverse designs of HM The Queen, dating from 1962 to 2003.
When buying these coins as a set you save approximately £500 compared to buying the coins individually. (Exact saving depends on gold price).
There were only 750 of these sets produced by The Royal Mint. The set contains four full sovereigns and three half sovereigns all encapsulated with a certificate and an information booklet. All coins are proof except the Mary Gillick sovereign as the proof sovereigns were not produced until 1979. The Mary Gillick sovereign is listed in The Royal Mint information leaflet as being EF 'extremely fine condition' or above and is the far left coin in the display case. See table below for a list of coins included.
We have a few sets in stock and the dates vary in each set, please contact us if you wish to check the dates in the set when you purchase.
Please note these coins are FDC - aFDC in grade.
The first page of the information booklet states:
The royal portrait on the collection of the United Kingdom is undoubtedly one of the principal symbols of the nation and stands as an icon of an era in British history. Each of the four main portraits of Queen Elizabeth II represents its own particular period in her long reign and, as a special tribute to the Queen at the fiftieth anniversary of her Coronation, the Royal Mint is proud to present The Royal Portrait Collection. This magnificent collection of seven gold coins - four sovereigns and three half-sovereigns - brings together all four portraits.
The obverse of all seven coins contains the portrait of Elizabeth II by various one if the obverse designers listed.
