We Are Always Available To Buy Scrap Gold
We buy everything from bullion coins, jewellery, medallions and stamp replicas.
As leading UK dealers since 1964, we are always eager to buy gold coins and gold bars. In addition, we also buy scrap gold in any quantity and carat. Whether you have a single item or several kilos, we will always be interested in buying your scrap gold at competitive prices. We also buy gold coins, whether it's an extreme rarity or a bullion coin. Whether your coin is in perfect mint state or only fit for scrap, we will buy it.
We Buy Any Quantity
We are happy to buy any quantity of scrap, from a single piece upwards, without limit.
If you have a large quantity of gold scrap to sell, we will accept your instructions on price, or offer you helpful advice on selling. We are one of the longest established and largest gold buyers in Britain.

We Pay Fair and Competitive Prices
Our buying prices for gold coins, bars and scrap are fair and competitive, but depend and change based on underlying gold prices, and other market conditions such as supply and demand.
How Much? What Percentage? - 90%?
Our price per gram buying prices change constantly with fluctuating gold bullion market prices.
Our percentage buying prices do change occasionally, subject to other market conditions.
Currently, our typical buying prices for hallmarked scrap gold work out at around 90% of intrinsic value. This means we pay a higher percentage than 99% of our competitors.
This varies slightly depending on quantity, size, and other factors.
We will buy unhallmarked gold at lower percentages to allow for testing time and cost, and the extra risk factor involved.
American gold alloys are usually a half carat deficient (legally), so will be bought at an adjusted percentage.
If we make an offer for your gold and you wish it returned, we make a £10 charge to cover postage, insurance, packaging, and handling. We will normally post your returned items within 24 hours.
Offers, Payments, & Other Stuff
If you call into our showroom, we will try to assess your gold while you wait, (please bring suitable ID, and we may ask for proof of ownership).
We normally pay immediately by either cheque or bank transfer (BACS). Same day (CHAPS) transfers attract a £30.00 charge.
We can and will pay cash, but make a 1% charge for this, except for some small transactions at our discretion. If you want cash, you should visit within normal banking hours.
You may notice we do not advertise "Cash for Gold" as this may attract the wrong type of clientele!
If you post gold to us, we will try to contact you to advise receipt, and also try to make you an offer the same day. You do not have to accept our offer, on the spot or at all, but the price is subject to change according to spot gold prices. Obviously, we prefer to get each deal done as quickly as possible and move on to the next job and the next customer.
Once you accept our offer, it is mutually binding; we will then process your payment by your preferred method, and adopt your scrap or other items into our stock.
Although we are a small, private limited company, we have a net asset backing in excess of £1 million. Our latest audited accounts are available from Companies House.
We can also pay in US Dollars or Euros. Your bank may make a charge for handling this. We may also make a small charge for this (typically 1%).
Not Only Scrap Gold
In addition to buying scrap gold, we also buy quality old jewellery, diamonds rings, watches, certificated diamonds, coins, medals, medallions, silver, platinum, and more.
Know Your Buyer
If you have gold coins, jewellery, diamond rings, scrap gold, or bullion to sell, it is well worth giving some thought to what sort of seller you need.
Scrap Gold Buyers - Most of the recent rash of cash for gold buyers are only, or mainly, interested in scrap gold, which they can turn back into cash very quickly,
It would be silly to offer a diamond ring to a scrap gold dealer expecting to get a decent price for it. A modest diamond ring worth £30 for scrap gold might be worth £100 as a diamond ring.
Similarly, most scrap gold buyers would only pay you the scrap gold price for a hand made antique jewellery piece. You might end up with £50 for something worth hundreds or thousands of pounds. Scrap gold buyers cannot be expected to give more than scrap value for gold coins, whereas a coin dealer may pay much more.
Who Buys Scrap Gold?
Antique Shops & Jewellers - Shops and dealers specialising in antiques and particularly antique jewellery would be an obvious place to offer your antique jewellery, but these same dealers may not be keen to buy scrap gold, gold coins, or modern diamond rings.
Coin Dealers - Most coin dealers specialise in one area of the numismatic marketplace. Some deal in Roman, Celtic, hammered, British, or American coins. some only want the finest quality pieces, others prefer to deal in lower priced coins. Some coin dealers steer clear of gold bullion coins or only buy it to pass on to a gold coin specialist. Most coin dealers do not buy jewellery or diamonds.
Jewellery Stores - Most multiple high street jewellers do not deal in second-hand jewellery or scrap gold, possibly because it spoils their image, possibly because it requires different expertise compared with retailing new jewellery.
Some smaller, independent jewellers may be more flexible. Even these may not be keen buyers of a whole range of gold goods that you have for sale. Many will simply want to buy scrap gold cheaply because they can make a quick profit on it, others may prefer to buy only selected pieces from you.
Bullion Dealers - Bullion dealers will primarily be interested in your scrap gold, possibly including coins, but almost certainly will not bid competitively for diamond jewellery or better pieces.
All Rounders - If you have a range of different items, you would probably be best to look for a dealer who will not only buy everything you wish to dispose of, but will also pay you a fair, reasonable, and competitive price for it.
Apart from us, we cannot think of a single competitor who meets all these criteria. This possibly explains, at least partially, why we keep so busy for most of the time.
Fair and Competitive Prices - Our buying prices for gold coins, bars and scrap are fair and competitive but depend and change based on underlying gold prices, and other market conditions such as supply and demand.
International Buyers - We also frequently buy gold coins from many other countries. There is no import duty or tax on entry to the UK for most gold coins or bars.
Posting Coins to Us
Selling gold coins to us is very easy. You may deliver them personally or use the post. Since 1964 we have transacted much of our business by mail. Sending coins to us by post is quite simple and reliable. Within the UK, we recommend the Royal Mail's Special Delivery service, which used to be called "registered". On receipt, we will agree a price with you if we have not already done so, and send a cheque by return first class post. If you prefer, you are welcome to call at our showroom with coins for sale. There is no need to make an appointment, but if you have a large amount of coins, it is advisable to let us know in advance. We also buy jewellery and scrap gold by post.
