Silver Koala Coins

Australia's Perth Mint first issued these silver bullion coins in 2007, which have proved extremely popular with both coin collectors and investors.

Initially, these were only produced in a one ounce version, but other sizes and weights have now been introduced.

Obverse

The obverse bears Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth coin portrait of Elizabeth II.

The inscription reads:

ELIZABETH II · AUSTRALIA · 2009 · 30 DOLLARS

Reverse

Designed by Shevaun Buschenhofen, the 2009 Koala bears an engraving of a koala sitting on a branch against a diamond effect background. The coin bears the inscription:

1 KILO 999 SILVER

The P mint mark for Perth Mint and the engraver's initials SB also feature.
