Silver Philharmonic Coins

Philharmonic coins, minted by Austria, celebrate Vienna's renowned orchestra. Available in gold, silver, and platinum, they're among Europe's most popular bullion coins, featuring iconic musical instruments on their design.

The denomination, or face value, is €1.50 for silver 1 ounce coins. The Austrian Mint explains:

"The face value of a bullion coin is appreciably lower than the value of its metal content. The somewhat unusual face value of 1.50 Euro on the new coin is explained by the fact that both the 1 Euro and 2 Euro are reserved for ordinary circulation in Europe."

Obverse

The obverse shows the great organ in the Golden Hall in Vienna's concert hall (Musikverein) is the theme for the obverse side of the coin. This is the home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

Also featured on this side are the face value in euros plus the weight, fineness and the year of issue.

Reverse

The reverse depicts a harmonious design of musical instruments representing the world famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Inscribed are the words:

These may have minor scratches or edge knocks, but this does not affect their value. Any coin sold for a value less than a 180% intrinsic is considered a bullion coin.
VAT:
Investment gold products are VAT-free, while silver products include VAT.
Cancellations & Returns:
Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
