This is a 2015 1 oz Silver Funnel-Web Spider Coin from the Perth Mint.
The Perth Mint released a brand new 1oz silver bullion coin - the Funnel-Web Spider - on the 16th March, 2015.
This coin follows on from the successful Salt Water Crocodile coins, which sold out of its one million mintage within a record three months!
This coin comes loose. You can add a 41mm capsule to your order in the basket.
Australian Funnel-Web Spider
The coin features the Australian Funnel-Web Spider. There are more than 40 species of Funnel-Web Spider in Australia, several are renowned for their fast-acting and highly toxic venom. The most infamous is the aggressive Sydney Funnel-Web, specifically the male with more potent venom, its powerful fangs are longer than that of a brown snake.
Since the introduction of Sydney Funnel-Web Spider antivenom in 1981, there have been no more fatalities connected to the Sydney Funnel-Web Spider.
Coin Capsules
Unlike other bullion Perth Mint coins, these coins do not come in capsules. They are supplied to us in protective tubes; order in multiples of 25 and receive a free storage tube to protect your coins. If you do order fewer coins, they will be supplied loose.
End of the Series
This was the second coin in a planned new series from the Perth Mint. The Perth Mint stopped minting the coins after 2015. They were instead replaced with the new Kangaroo series.
Obverse
The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Reverse
The reverse features a large venemous Autralian Funnel-Web Spider. The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark can be found in the legend inscription.
