What is a Silver Round?

It is worth noting that despite the term "round" implying a circular shape, it can actually refer to silver bullion pieces of any shape. Essentially, a round is a form of silver sold specifically for investment purposes. Unlike coins, rounds do not hold a denomination and are not considered legal tender. Smaller mints often produce rounds and use artistic freedom to create unique and aesthetically appealing silver pieces that attract "collector/investors."

Chinese Zodiac Year of the Dragon

The Chinese Zodiac comprises twelve animal signs, and the year of the dragon is widely regarded as one of the most important. It recurs every twelve years and is linked to traits such as bravery, good luck, and strength for those born during that year. Within Chinese culture, the dragon is a symbol of power, success, and nobility.

Obverse

The obverse side of the round displays a design featuring Baird & Co's logo. Just beneath it, in italics, is the inscription "Bullion Merchants", while the lettering at the bottom indicates the location as LONDON.

The inscription of this obverse reads as:

ONE OUNCE .9999 FINE SILVER

Reverse

The reverse design of the 1oz Baird & Co Lunar Year of the Dragon round displays a detailed image of a dragon, with the Chinese character for "dragon" inscribed above it. Additionally, just off-centre, another Chinese character for "blessing" can be seen.

The round also bears an inscription which reads as follows:

· YEAR OF THE DRAGON · ONE OUNCE .9999 FINE SILVER

Bullion coins are provided as is and on occasion may have some minor scratches or edge knocks. These are not regarded as faulty or damaged goods as their precious metal content and value as a bullion coin is not affected. Any coin sold for a value less than a 180% intrinsic is considered a bullion coin.

Gold investment products are VAT free. Silver investment products are inclusive of VAT at the current rate unless otherwise stated.

All investment products are based on the live precious metal price. Prices will be fixed once the item has been added to the basket and recalculates just before checking out.

If your product is not a graded coin and is considered a bullion item, it should be noted that these are bought and sold on low premiums over their precious metal content and not solely for aesthetic purposes; therefore, some products may have edge knocks and/or marks. These edge knocks and marks do not alter the specifications of the coins.

Please note that all investment products are exempt from the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and therefore customers do not have the right to cancel their order once the order has been accepted. If customers no longer wish to go ahead with their investment purchase, there is an option to sell the products back to Chard (1964) Ltd instead. View our current buy back prices.
