The pictures shown may not necessarily be the coin you receive.
LIMA coins were minted in 1745-46 using a large hoard of silver captured from the Spanish by Admiral Anson's squadron operating in the Pacific Ocean. The word "LIMA" engraved under the bust is a reference to the fact that the Spanish silver was being shipped from Lima back to Spain when it was intercepted by Anson.
Edge description reads “REGNI.DECIMO.NONO - DECVS.ET.TVTAMEN.ANNO”
This crown is in coin alignment.
Spink Ref - 3689
A draped bust of George II with a laureate head is shown on the obverse, facing left. This is the older portrait for George. The word “LIMA” sits below the bust.
The legend reads “GEORHIVS.II.DEI.GRATIA.”
The obverse was designed by Johann Sigim.
The reverse shows the crowned shields forming a cruciform. The shields bears the coat of arms of the Duchy of Brunswick and Luneburg, France, Scotland, England and Ireland. The angles between each of the shields are plain, as supposed to roses on some of the reverse designs for this monarch.
The legend reads “ET.L.D S.R.I.A.T.E.T 1746 M.B.F.ET H.REX F.D.B”
