This is the very collectable 'Australia' Reverse Sydney Mint Sovereign minted in 1868.
There was a mintage of 1,117,000 of the Sydney mint sovereigns of this year.
This year's sovereign trialled using a gold alloy which was 8.33% silver causing it to appear more yellow looking.
The Australia Sovereign was minted for circulation from 1855 to 1870. There were two portraits used on the sovereigns, both by L.C. Wyon, this coin uses the 2nd portrait.

The Australia Sovereign
With large amounts being discovered near Sydney, the New South Wales government sought approval from the Royal Mint to open a new branch mint based in Sydney. Their grant was approved in August 1853 and preparations for a new sovereign design commenced
The Australia Sovereign was the first coin in the British Empire to state the denomination of the coin.
Obverse
A young Queen Victoria with a wreath of the native plant Banksia around her head by L.C. Wyon.
Reverse
The word 'AUSTRALIA' appears across the middle of the reverse with a crown above surrounded by a wreath of Banksia. 'SYDNEY MINT' appears above the crown.
