Quite a difficult coin to find considering the original mintage of just over 2 million. A popular seller.
In 1905, the Edward VII sovereign was produced by the Australian branch mints in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth and The Royal Mint in London.
2,017,000 British sovereigns were struck in Sydney in 1905. These 22 carat gold coins were issued for circulation with a face value of one pound.

The obverse bears the portrait of Edward VII designed by George William De Saulles and features the inscription EDWARDVS VII D:G: BRITT: OMN: REX F:D: IND:IMP:
The reverse of the 1905 Edward VII sovereign displays Benedetto Pistrucci's engraving of St George and the Dragon. The S mint mark for the Australian branch mint in Sydney is situated in the ground beneath the dragon. The date and the engraver's initials B.P. are in exergue.
