1911 Gold Graded Full Sovereign George V Coin United Kingdom NGC AU-58

These 1911 Gold Sovereign George V NGC AU-58 Coins were the first sovereigns issued with King George V portrait under his reign of the United Kingdom.

Graded and slabbed by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) as an AU-58 grade.

Struck in 22 carat gold (0.9167 fineness) and contains 0.2354 troy ounces of the precious metal.

This coin was struck in the same year as George V and Queen Mary of Teck's coronation year that took place at Westminster Abbey.

Features Edgar Bertram Mackennal portrait of King George V on the obverse and Benedetto Pistrucci's St George slaying the dragon design on the reverse.

1911 Sovereign Release

In 1911 there are three types of sovereigns that were issued, the first being normal that has a total mintage of 30,044,105, proof and matt proof but the mintage figures are not known for these.

What happened in 1911?

The future Edward VIII was invested as Prince of Wale at Carnarvon Castle that was devised by David Lloyd George, who was most famously known for his time as prime minister during World War I.

Obverse

The obverse features the King's bare head facing left. The letters B.M in relief at the bottom of the truncation. The inscription reads as:

GEORGIVS V D.G.BRITT:OMN:REX F.D.IND.IMP:

Reverse

The reverse side of the coin features Benedetto Pistrucci's design of St George mounted and slaying the dragon. The sovereigns are dated at the bottom with the letters B.P to the right.

Gold investment products are VAT free. Silver investment products are inclusive of VAT at the current rate unless otherwise stated.

All investment products are based on the live precious metal price. Prices will be fixed once the item has been added to the basket and recalculates just before checking out. 

If your product is not a graded coin and is considered a bullion item, it should be noted that these are bought and sold on low premiums over their precious metal content and not solely for aesthetic purposes; therefore, some products may have edge knocks and/or marks. These edge knocks and marks do not alter the specifications of the coins.

Please note that all investment products are exempt from the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and therefore customers do not have the right to cancel their order once the order has been accepted. Orders over £60 - Fully Insured Delivery.

  • Within the UK and BFPO - Next day fully insured and tracked. Delivery starts from £6. 

Orders under £60

  • Within the UK and BFPO - Royal Mail 2nd Class. Your order will normally arrive within 2-3 working days. Delivery starts from £3.50.
