Before the introduction of fractional Krugerrands, the Mexican 2 pesos used to be a very popular small bullion coin for investors. This gold bullion coin is makes a great addition to your investment portfolio at a low margin over spot compared to modern counterparts.
They were also often used in jewellery, earrings in particular, due to their fairly low weight.
The two pesos coin with this design was issued from 1919 to 1947. The 1945 date is the easiest to find. In 1996 matte restrikes were produced.
The obverse engraving displays the Mexican national arms of an eagle on a tree eating a snake with a wreath below. The coin bears the inscription:
ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
The reverse engraving features the date above value in a wreath above the mint mark Mo.
