The Lima Mint (Casa de Moneda) was first opened on 21 August 1565 and began minting its coins in September 1568. These coins have denominations of 'Libra' and 'Soles,' which are rarely traded on the European market.
The coat of arms of Peru is divided into three parts symbolising Peru: the top left depicts native South American camelids (vicuña), the far right features a Cinchona tree, and at the bottom is a shell. Above the shielded crest, there is a laurel wreath that completes the coat of arms.
In 1921, Peru celebrated the Centennial of its Independence, marking a hundred years of freedom from Spain. To commemorate this event in 1926, the French sculptor René Bertrand-Boutée, with the assistance of Eugène Soleau, created a miniature version of the iconic Statue of Liberty in New York City, standing at 2 meters tall, in bronze.
The obverse of this coin features the national Coat of Arms of Peru and an inscription containing the following Latin lettering:
PESOS : GRS. 46.8071 - REPUBLICA PERUANA - NUEVEDECIMOSFINO
LIMA
The reverse showcases a depiction of Lady Liberty seated alongside her shield next to a column with a laurel wreath on top, wrapped around with a banner that reads 'LIBERTAD,' which can be translated to 'freedom' and 'liberty' in English.
An inscription can also be seen, reading as:

All investment products are based on the live precious metal price. Prices will be fixed once the item has been added to the basket and recalculates just before checking out.
