This 1999 silver proof £1 coin features a standing lion rampant representing Scotland by Norman Sillman. This is the first in a four coin series of national emblems symbolising each of the four countries of Great Britain.
Struck in sterling silver, this collectable coin comes in a presentation box with a certificate of authenticity.
It was decided that from 1984, British £1 coins would feature different reverse designs for each of the four countries of the United Kingdom. The silver proof one pound coin is British legal tender and is exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
The edge of the coin features the inscription NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT. This translates to No-one Provokes Me With Impunity.

The reverse features a standing lion rampant within a double tressure flory counter flory border. This design by Norman Sillman represents Scotland. The design sits above the value ONE POUND.
