This 2008 1/10th Gold Kangaroo Coin was issued by Australia's Perth Mint.
The coin is highly collectible due to the design changing each year. This tenth ounce coin comes in a protective capsule.
The coin is struck from 24 carat (9999 fine) gold.
The coins had a maximum mintage of 200,000 of which 23,357 of the coins were minted.
The kangaroo coins originally featured the famous gold nugget on the reverse. In 1990 this changed to show kangaroos. For this reason the coins may be referred to as 'nuggets', 'kangaroos' or 'roos'.
The obverse portrait was designed by Ian Rank Broadley. It is the fourth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
The text reads:
ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2008
15 DOLLARS
Designed by Ryan Vanderwiel, the reverse shows a kangaroo bounding across the grass.
