2008 Emblems of Britain Silver Proof UK Coin Set

2008 Royal Emblems Silver Proof UK Coin Set - 7 Coins

The Emblems of Britain coin collection from the Royal Mint marks the final appearance of the Emblems of Britain on definitive UK coins. This is the ideal gift for coin collectors as it is the perfect memento of this historic time in numismatic history.

This beautiful silver proof coin set contains all seven definitive UK coins; £1, 50p, 20p, 10p, 5p, 2p and 1p. All of the coins are struck to a proof finish from 0.925 sterling silver. The coins are encased within a black presentation box, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from The Royal Mint.

The silver £1 coin in this set features the Royal Coat of Arms design by Eric Sewell. This was used on the modern £1 coins from their introduction in 1983 until 2008. The design was replaced by the Royal Arms by Matthew Dent.

Only 10,000 of these sets were issued.

Final Emblems of Britain Coins

In 2008 The Royal Mint changed the reverse design of circulating coins from the Emblems of Britain to a new style, named the Royal Shield of Arms. Designed by Matthew Dent, the seven coins form a puzzle, which when placed together correctly, make up the Royal Shield of Arms.

Obverse

The obverse of the coins was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. This is the fourth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

Reverse

The reverse designs feature the Emblems of Britain. The coins are:

Bullion coins are provided as is and on occasion may have some minor scratches or edge knocks. These are not regarded as faulty or damaged goods as their precious metal content and value as a bullion coin is not affected. Any coin sold for a value less than a 180% intrinsic is considered a bullion coin.

Gold investment products are VAT free. Silver investment products are inclusive of VAT at the current rate unless otherwise stated.

All investment products are based on the live precious metal price. Prices will be fixed once the item has been added to the basket and recalculates just before checking out.

If your product is not a graded coin and is considered a bullion item, it should be noted that these are bought and sold on low premiums over their precious metal content and not solely for aesthetic purposes; therefore, some products may have edge knocks and/or marks. These edge knocks and marks do not alter the specifications of the coins.

Please note that all investment products are exempt from the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and therefore customers do not have the right to cancel their order once the order has been accepted. If customers no longer wish to go ahead with their investment purchase, there is an option to sell the products back to Chard (1964) Ltd instead. View our current buy back prices.
