These 2012 Diamond Jubilee 1 kg Silver Proof Coins were issued by Australia's Perth Mint.
These coins have been slabbed and graded as PF-69 ULTRA CAMEO by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) based upon the Sheldon Grading Scale.
This coin celebrates Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee, which took place on the 5th of June 2012. Only 600 of these coins were issued, making them extremely sought after.
Each coin weighs 1kg, is struck in fine silver (0.999 fineness) and contains 32.1507 troy ounces of the precious metal.
See our 2012 Diamond Jubilee Collection.
The PF-69 grade means the coin is fully struck with nearly imperceptible imperfections. It is the second highest numeric grade that can be given by the NGC.
Elizabeth II ascended the British throne on 6th February 1952 after the sudden death of her father, King George VI She was not officially crowned until 2nd June, 1953.
In 2012 the Queen celebrated her Diamond Jubilee. She is only the second British monarch to have reached this milestone event, with Queen Victoria having celebrated her Diamond Jubilee in 1897.
Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Diamond Jubilee (60th anniversary) on 6th February 2012. Many mints from around the Commonwealth issued coins in her honour, including Australia's Perth Mint.
Chards had some input into the design of this one kilo silver coin, after speaking with The Perth Mint at The World Money Fair in Berlin. Knowing that The Perth Mint are always good value, and issue high-quality coins, we decided to take the plunge and buy almost the entire mintage. The coins were sold exclusively by Chards and The Perth Mint!
