These grade C gold 1oz coins are not good enough for us to sell as our usual 2013 Gold Maples, but they are too good to scrap!
These gold coins have a special laser-micro-engraved textured maple leaf on the bottom right-hand side on the reverse of the coin, just below the maple leaf. The premium on these coins is just 1.5%, compared to 9.5% for the standard 2013 Maple bullion coins.
We do not recommend these coins as an investment item. They have defects such as deep scratch marks or red spots.
We do have some customers who use these 'grade C' 1 oz gold coins for jewellery or other purposes. Please contact us if you want any further details.
These gold maples have been checked by our expert numismatists. They don't meet the grade for our standard 1oz bullion coins but they are too good to send to scrap.
If you are looking to buy gold at a very low premium above spot, to melt down or to use in jewellery this is a great buy, but don't delay, stock is limited!
Bearing the national plant emblem of Canada, the Maple is one of the most easily recognised bullion coins in the world. This engraving was designed by coin engraver, Stanley Witten. Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, the gold Maple is struck in 999.9 fineness, 24 carat gold. The Maple is issued annually in sizes typically varying from 1 oz to 1/20 oz - in some years a 1/15 oz, 1/25 oz and a 1 gram coin have been issued.
The obverse bears a portrait of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and the inscription:
ELIZABETH II 50 DOLLARS 2013
The reverse features an engraving of Canada's national emblem, the Maple leaf together with the inscription:
CANADA 9999 FINE GOLD 1OZ OR PUR 9999
