2015 sees the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. To commemorate the event, The Royal Mint have issued a £5 crown.
The Battle of Waterloo took place on Sunday 18th June, 1815. It started at 11am, 2 hours later than intended, as the ground had been too damp from the previous night's bad weather.
Napoleon led the French troops to battle. The Prussian and Anglo armies worked as an allied force, and were led by General Blücher and the Duke of Wellington respectively.
After hours of fighting (most of it was fought in close combat) and 41,000 casualties, Napoleon was defeated and the battle brought over 20 years of conflict to an end.
