In 2015, the UK's Royal Mint produced the first ever £50 coin.
The coin is struck in 0.999 fineness and contains just under one troy ounce of silver (0.996 ozs).
It has an issue limit of 100,000 and comes in a colourful presentation card.
This is the UK's first £50 coin. The Royal Mint have continued their "face-value" series, whereby coins are sold for their face value (e.g. £50 for £50). The first £100 coin was issued in 2014 and the first £20 in 2013.
Britannia is the personification of Great Britain. She has been featured on coins dating all the way back to AD 119 when she appeared on coins of the Roman Emporer Hadrian.
Britannia is often seen as a symbol of hope, unity and pride for Britain. She is often used as a figurehead of the values and achievements of the nation.
Britannia featured on the reverse of 50p coins until a new design was brought in, in 2008.
She is often, but not always, shown with a lion at her feet. This represents the British Lion shown in the Royal Arms.
Whilst we pride ourselves in being cheaper than the mint in most cases, we were unable to source these coins at a discount. We have managed to get a small supply in stock for informational purposes and to photograph. We are offering them for sale but with a premium. This is because we're a business and we don't work for free!
The obverse of the coin shows the fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, introduced in 2015.
Designed by Jody Clark, the reverse depicts Britannia standing with a tamed lion at her feet and a three-dimensional globe in the background.
This design also appears on the 2014 proof silver Britannias.

Bullion coins are provided as is and on occasion may have some minor scratches or edge knocks. These are not regarded as faulty or damaged goods as their precious metal content and value as a bullion coin is not affected. Any coin sold for a value less than a 180% intrinsic is considered a bullion coin.
Gold investment products are VAT free. Silver investment products are inclusive of VAT at the current rate unless otherwise stated.
All investment products are based on the live precious metal price. Prices will be fixed once the item has been added to the basket and recalculates just before checking out.
If your product is not a graded coin and is considered a bullion item, it should be noted that these are bought and sold on low premiums over their precious metal content and not solely for aesthetic purposes; therefore, some products may have edge knocks and/or marks. These edge knocks and marks do not alter the specifications of the coins.
Please note that all investment products are exempt from the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and therefore customers do not have the right to cancel their order once the order has been accepted.
