Issued by the Perth Mint in Australia, the 2015 Kangaroo gold coin is struck in 9999 fineness. Each coin contains one troy ounce of gold. The "Nugget" is one of our most popular coins as the design changes each year. This is the one ounce version of the coin.
The coins are referred to as 'nuggets' because from 1986 until 1989, various Australian gold nuggets were pictured on the reverse. From 1990, the design was changed to feature kangaroos instead of nuggets, possibly because they are thought to be more synonymous with Australia.
The Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is shown on the obverse with the legend ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA · 100 DOLLARS ·.
The reverse shows a kangaroo, bounding across the Australian outback, with the moon in the background. The coin bears the inscription AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO above the design and 2015 1oz 9999 GOLD below.
