The Year of the Rooster starts on 28th January, 2017. This will be the Chinese year 4715. The rooster is the 10th of 12 animals in the Chinese lunar calendar. Those born during the Year of the Rooster are said to be hardworking, observant, confident and honest.
The coins were released on 8th September, 2016, we received them on the 20th September.
Obverse
The obverse features the denomination of the coin ($200) as well as the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
Reverse
The reverse of the coin was designed by Aleysha Howarth, and shows a rooster standing amongst some bamboo. The Chinese character for ‘rooster’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Rooster’ also appears on the design.
