This 2017 silver proof £5 crown commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the House of Windsor. The reverse engraving was designed by Timothy Noad. This commemorative coin has a denomination of £5 and is British legal tender, which is exempt from Capital Gains Tax. This proof coin is struck in 0.925 sterling silver fineness and comes in a presentation box with a certificate of authentication.
After three years of the First World War, in 1917 the Royal Family decided to cut ties with their German family name of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and to become known as the House of Windsor. The 100th Anniversary of the House of Windsor is celebrated with an official coin - the 2017 Centenary of the House of Windsor Crown.
