The Queen's Beasts are a series of ten statues that were created for Elizabeth II's coronation at Westminster Abbey in 1953. They combine heraldic elements and mythical creatures which form a part of the Queen's royal ancestry. The Royal Mint launched their Queen's Beasts bullion range in 2016.
The obverse was designed by Jody Clark and features the fifth coinage effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
The reverse is also designed by Jody Clark. It features a rearing horse with the badge of the House of Hanover accompanied by the inscription:-
WHITE HORSE OF HANOVER
The shield is split into quarters. The first shows the fleur-de-lis of France, the second shows the Irish harp, the third displays the lion of Scotland and the leopards of England, and the final quarter features the Arms of Hanover.
