2020 The Tower of London: Coins and Kings £5 Coin. This is the 3rd release in the 2020 Tower of London Collection from The Royal Mint.
This coin is struck to a Brilliant Uncirculated finish and comes in a presentation folder.
The coin features the Tower of London mintmark, which appears on all 4 coins in the series.
The Royal Mint spent over 500 years based at The Tower of London. All coinage was produced by hand here between 1279 and 1805.
The Royal Mint were constantly growing in production, upgrading their security in 1279 with a new premises to strike gold and silver coins, alongside facilitating a growth in production.
Production for a new Royal Mint building started in 1805 just opposite the Tower of London, however the process proved to be arduous, preventing the mint from relocating until 1812.
The obverse features the fifth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. It was designed by Jody Clark.
