The Queen's Beasts are a series of ten statues that were created for Elizabeth II's coronation at Westmnister Abbey in 1953. They combine heraldic elements and mythical creatures which form a part of the Queen's royal ancestry. The Royal Mint launched their Queen's Beasts bullion range in 2016. Both the obverse and reverse of the coins were designed by Royal Mint engraver, Jody Clark.
Jody Clark's coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse of the coin.
The reverse of the coin shows a lion holding a shield. Unlike the Lion of England coin, the Lion of Mortimer is shown without a crown.
The shield the lion is holding uses parts of the seals of Edward IV and Richard III. It shows a rose over the sun.
