The Mayflower was a merchant ship which was used to carry 102 English Puritans (Pilgrims) from England to the New World.
The ship set sail in September 1620 and arrived in Plymouth, Massachusetts in November of the same year. This was believed to be the start of modern America with approximately 35 million Americans being descendants of the original 102 passengers.
The Mayflower has never been featured on a UK circulating coin, however it was used on the 1994 bi-metallic £2 trial piece. This never went into circulation and is highly collectable.
The reverse was designed by artist, Chris Costello. Based in Massachusetts, Costello has also produced a complimentary design for the US Mint. The presence of the North Star in the UK coin's design connects to the image of the sun in the U.S. design.
Designed by Jody Clark , the fifth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse.
Designed by Massachusetts-based artist, Chris Costello, the coins show the Mayflower sailing towards the New World, with the North Star visible in the sky. The text reads:

The edge text reads:
‘UNDERTAKEN FOR THE GLORY OF GOD'
