This 2020 Jersey silver proof coin is gold plated and was issued to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the 'Battle of Britain'.
The certificate of authenticity states that the coin has been struck in .999 fine silver. A large amount of time and craftsmanship has gone into the creation of these unique proof coins, which are plated in 24 carat gold.
The reverse of the coin features engraved poppies with a single 3-dimensional Royal British Legion poppy secured in the centre, crafted from metal taken from the original duralumin wing spar of the PM631 Spitfire.
This coin has an issue limit of 300 coins, This coin is issued under number 8.
Eighty years ago, between 10 July - 31 October 1940, Britain was forced to defend its shores against the onslaught of the Luftwaffe that had already stormed across Western Europe. This battle was mainly fought in the skies and came to be known as the 'Battle of Britain' following the speech given by Prime Minister Winston Churchill to the House of Commons on the 18th June 1940.

The reverse of the coin features engraved poppies with a single 3-dimensional Royal British Legion poppy secured in the centre, crafted purely from metal that has been taken directly from a legendary Spitfire.
The stylised poppy has been laser engraved with the official serial number of the Spitfire from which the metal was taken - PM631.
As a finishing touch, red enamel is applied to the centre of each poppy.
