2021 Alice's Adventures in Wonderland 0.25 oz Gold Proof Coin The first release in The Royal Mint's Treasury of Tales Series and the first of two Alice in Wonderland coins.

2021 Alice's Adventures in Wonderland 0.25 oz Gold Proof Coin

The first release in The Royal Mint's Treasury of Tales Series and the first of two Alice in Wonderland coins. The coin features an image of Alice and The Cheshire Cat, which appeared in the first publication of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

The coins are issued in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum, whose Alice in Wonderland exhibition is running until the end of 2021.

Struck from 999 fine gold (24 carat), this 0.25 ounce coin is issued to a proof standard. The coin has a diameter of 22mm and a face value of £25. Each coin comes in a presentation box, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Mintage of 510 coins, with a limited edition presentation of 500.

Alice in Wonderland

The children's story has been a firm favourite amongst children since it was first published in 1865. Written by Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland tells the story of a young girl who falls down a rabbit hole. On her journey she meets an assortment of characters, including the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, The Cheshire Cat and Tweedledee and Tweedledum. To date, the book has been translated into 176 languages and has never been out of print!

Obverse

The obverse features the fifth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.

Reverse

The reverse features an illustration by Sir John Tenniel taken from the first publication of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Designed by engraver Ffion Gwillim, it shows Alice looking up at the Cheshire Cat. The text reads:

The Star rating should be 5 stars

The Star rating is not just 4 stars but it should have been 5 stars that will not light up, I have spent a lot of time looking on the internet at gold prices most 1oz is mainly at current gold values. However sovereigns have different pricing up to a third more, yet I found Chards prices are very fair prices which I have bought 3 sovereigns this year.
