2021 Queen Elizabeth II 95th Birthday £5 coin.
Celebrate the 95th Birthday of the UK's longest reigning monarch with this commemorative £5. Issued by The Royal Mint, this base metal coin has a 'brilliant uncirculated' finish.
Each coin comes issued in a colourful fold-out presentation folder, which contains information about the Queen's reign.
Queen Elizabeth II turned 95 years old on 21st April 2021. Not only is she the longest-reigning monarch in UK history, but also the only one to reach the age of 95.
Elizabeth ascended to the throne in 1952 after the sudden death of her father, King George VI. During her 1953 Coronation, she notably declared "my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong."
We first heard about the coin after the Privy Council published information about it. The Privy Council is made up of senior politicians who advise the Queen on such matters as bank holidays, coinage and lively company statuses. The Royal Mint have to submit any new coin designs to The Privy Council for approval and that information is then announced on the Privy Council website.
The obverse of the coin features the Jody Clark portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
