This is the 2021 Year of the Ox 10 Kg Silver Bullion Coin.
This lunar coin is the second release in The Perth Mint's Chinese Lunar Series III Collection and is struck from 99.99% fine silver.
The Perth Mint bullion coins are known to be struck to a high standard, even though they have a bullion finish. Each coin comes in a protective capsule and contains ten kilogrammes (321.51 troy ounces) of pure silver.
These coins have a mintage of just 100, making them a must-have for Perth Mint coin collectors!
The Perth Mint introduced their lunar coin series in 1996. Each coin celebrates a different Chinese zodiac sign, with each cycle lasting 12 years. Since the lunar coins were introduced they have proven to be highly collectable, with most sizes selling out quickly.
The Chinese lunar Year of the Ox begins on 12th February, 2021. The ox is the second animal in the lunar calendar, and those born under it are thought to be strong, determined and dependable.
Other year of the ox include 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997 and 2009.
The third series of lunar coins began with the 2020 Year of the Mouse coins. If you would like to start collecting we suggest you buy these first coins before it’s too late.
The 2021 coin shows the Australian coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark. The design shows Elizabeth from the shoulders upwards.
