2021 Prince Philip Memorial Two Ounce Silver Proof Coin
Honour the life of Prince Philip with this commemorative £5 coin. This 2 ounce coin is issued from 0.999 fine silver and is struck to a proof finish.
The reverse was designed by Ian Rank Broadley, and was approved by The Duke of Edinburgh in 2008. Each coin comes in a presentation box, along with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
Only 1,006 of these coins have been minted, with a limited edition presentation of 1,000 coins.
Prince Philip was born on 10th June 1921. As a former naval commander, he fought for the Royal Navy in World War II. Philip married the (then) Princess Elizabeth on 20th November 1947 and took the title of the Duke of Edinburgh. In 1957 he was made a prince.
Philip became one of Britain's favourite members of the British royal family. His outrageous comments and loyalty to the Queen endeared him to the nation. Prince Philip passed away on 9th April 2021, just 62 days before his 100th birthday.
The obverse was designed by Jody Clark. It shows the fifth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The text reads:

The reverse of the coin was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. It features a right-facing portrait of Prince Philip. The design was approved by The Duke of Edinburgh in 2008. The text reads:
