These 2022 Gold Proof Sixpence Coins are issued by The Royal Mint. The coins are issued inside a gift box with a 'Sixpence in Your Shoe' booklet.
These are the final sixpences to feature Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
Each coin is struck from 0.9167 fine gold (22 carat) to a proof finish, and contains 0.1648 troy ounces of the precious metal.
The UK Sixpence coin is believed to have first started during the reign of Henry VIII's son, Edward VI.
This sixpence is the perfect gift for newly married couples or even Christmas presents.
A bride should carry a sixpence in her shoe on her wedding day so as to bring good luck to the couple.
A sixpence is also traditionally baked into a Christmas pudding to bring luck to the person who finds it.
