This 2022 United Kingdom Silver Proof Annual Coin Set issued by the Royal Mint.
The 2022 Annual UK coin set contains 13 silver proof coins. These include 8 definitive issues as well as five new commemorative issues. The Platinum Jubilee £5 design is similar to that on the half crown of William IV and has spiked a lot of interest. Old designs reproduced have been popular in recent years.
The sets have a limited edition presentation of 550.
"Proof" coins are specially struck with great care and attention. The dies are highly polished on the flat surfaces, with a frosted finish on the design, the blanks from which the coins are struck are also polished before striking (minting), so that the finished coins show their designs to the absolutely best effect. The raised relief parts of the design have a frosted finish, and stand out from the background (field) which has a mirror finish. Each coin is carefully inspected prior to packaging, and is guaranteed to be perfect and without any blemish.
Inheriting the throne at the age of just 25, Her Majesty The Queen has remained a national constant as head of state since 6th February 1952. This UK £5 coin designed by john Bergdahl features a fitting regal design centralised by the quartered shield of the Royal Arms.
The coin set has a total face value of £13.88
With the advent of her 70th year as Queen, Her Majesty The Queen is the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. This historic accomplishment extends her already record-breaking reign as monarch of the United Kingdom. In commemoration of the groundbreaking achievement, The Queen’s platinum Jubilee is also celebrated with a UK 50p coin- the first UK 50p to mark a royal event. Designed by Osborne Ross, the coin features a clean reverse design that comprises the number 70, The Queen’s cypher and the years that span her reign thus far.
Few stars of the twentieth century can boast the critical acclaim and public adoration of Dame Vera Lynn. During the Second World War, her iconic renditions of classic song such as ‘We’ll Meet Again’ earned her eternal residency within the hearts of many, whilst her charity work only enhanced her legacy. The reverse design of this this UK £2 coin features a beautifully detailed portrait of Dame Vera as she appeared during the height of her fame.
The summer of 2022 sees the Commonwealth Game emanate from the city of Birmingham for the first time. As only the third time England has played host the Games in the 92-year history of the competition, the event represents a truly momentous occasion for British sport. The reverse of this 50p features a design by the Royal mint’s own Natasha Preece, who has captured the essence of Brimingham 2022 through a striking geometric design.
The obverse of the coins features the Jody Clark portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fifth coinage portrait to be used.
