These 1 oz Philharmonic Silver Bullion Coins are our best value investment option for recently issued silver coins. They are selected from our 'Our Choice' selection within our in-stock minty collection, offering Philharmonic coins from various dates.
These coins are supplied loose. Protect your silver investment with a 38mm coin capsule ensuring your coin remains in great condition.
Please Note: These coins may contain milk spots and/or toning. This is a natural process and does not detract from the coin's value.
If you wish to order a particular date, please view our dated Silver Philharmonic section.
The silver one ounce Philharmonic coin was introduced on Friday 1st February 2008. Designed by Thomas Pesendorfer and issued to meet the demand for silver bullion, the Philharmonic has become one of the most popular 1 oz silver coins in Europe. This is an our choice of date product, you will receive coins chosen at random from our stock. We also have various years available if you are looking for a particular year.
The denomination, or face value, is €1.50. The Austrian Mint explains:
"The face value of a bullion coin is appreciably lower than the value of its metal content. The somewhat unusual face value of 1.50 Euro on the new coin is explained by the fact that both the 1 Euro and 2 Euro are reserved for ordinary circulation in Europe."
This is a great opportunity to purchase investment silver at a reduced rate of VAT. These one ounce silver philharmonic coins are sold on a marginal rate scheme known in the industry as the 'special scheme'. This means that when we sell second hand silver you will only pay VAT on the dealer's margin.
Minty coins are our hand-picked selection of bullion coins that are in mint condition and usually, but not always, have been minted in recent years. Any coins with more severe scratches and scuff marks would be classed as secondary market.
The obverse shows the great organ in the Golden Hall in Vienna's concert hall (Musikverein) is the theme for the obverse side of the coin. This is the home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Also featured on this side are the face value in Euros plus the weight, fineness and year of issue.
The reverse depicts a harmonious design of musical instruments representing the world famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Inscribed are the words:
WIENER PHILHARMONIKER SILBER
