These coins are 22ct gold and are exempt from capital gains tax.
The Britannia gold 1oz coin was first issued in 1987 with the standing Britannia design, as shown on the 2012 coin in this coin bundle.
In 1997, the design changed from the standing Britannia to the chariot design as shown on the 2009 coin in this bundle.
The reverse of the Britannia in 2001 was the Una and Lion.
In 2003 the design changed to Philip Nathan's side profile of Britannia wearing a helmet, facing left. 2005 and 2007 there were variations of the seated Britannia, similar to that used on the Roman Coins of Hadrian.
