Looking For Gift Ideas?

Synopsis

Here at Chards, we stock a wide range of Sovereigns, Britannias, Krugerrands and others from around the world that would make the perfect gift, and could potentially retain value over time.

Silver and gold are well known as gifts for 25th and 50th anniversaries, but platinum is becoming increasingly popular for 20th anniversaries.

We can offer single coins or sets of coins, so if you’re looking for an 18th, 21st or 50th present, or an anniversary gift, you can search through our 2022 Birthday and Anniversary gifts to see what we have available.

Here are some of our most popular coins:

Britannias

Britannias are among the most requested coins, as they are exempt from capital gains tax. The first gold Britannias were introduced in 1987 in 4 sizes: 1 ounce, half-ounce, quarter ounce and tenth ounce.

Sovereigns

Gold sovereigns were first struck in 1817 and were in general circulation up until first world war. While they don't circulate like they used to, sovereigns are still held by many investors due to them being CGT-exempt like Britannias.  We hold a number of dated sovereigns in bullion form, we also have many others in gold proof. Proof coins are finished with a highly polished mirrored background, which are highly collectable.

Half Sovereigns

Smaller and less expensive, half sovereigns are often used for jewellery as full sovereign rings are too big for most people.

Krugerrands

Krugers are not requested as often as Sovereigns but are a great alternative. They are available from 1967, although some dates are more difficult to source than others. Since 1980, fractional sizes of krugerrands are available for most years.
