The History of the Britannia

The Britannia bullion coin is a well-known coin from the Royal Mint of the United Kingdom. Its initial release was in 1987 and has since then gained recognition among collectors and investors. The coin takes its name from the symbolic figure of Britain, Britannia, depicted on its reverse side. On the obverse is a portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II, which has undergone updates by various artists over time. As of 2023, following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, the second 2023 Britannia coin design features King Charles III and will be featured on all future Britannia coins.

Why Buy Silver Britannia Bullion Coins?

The Britannia coin is struck from 0.999 fine silver and comes in different sizes such as 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz.

As UK legal tender pound sterling coins, they are exempt from capital gains tax, making them an extremely attractive option for UK-based investors.

Also, due to its worldwide recognition and high demand, the Britannia coin is a popular choice among those interested in investing in silver bullion.

Obverse

The front of the box features the following lettering

BRITANNIA 1 oz. SILVER COINS

The center of the box displays a depiction of Phillip Nathan's iconic 1999 Britannia reverse design and the current Britannia reverse design seen on 2023 Britannia coins.

Just above the two reverse designs is Jody Clark's fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which last appeared on the 2023 Queen Elizabeth II Britannia.
